The Story

Mathematics recently found a single shape that can cover a surface forever without ever repeating, an aperiodic monotile. Élément takes that idea and draws it from one of the oldest patterns in parquet, the chevron, reduced to a single simple component. From that one block a floor can be quiet and minimal, or dense and intricate. The house proposes eight arrangements to begin with, and an architect can invent many more, in any combination of colours.

Finishes

Natural

Élément natural finish provides a nice textured oak that plays with light. A 2 component invisible varnish seals the surface and offers a very high resistance. A highly crafted surface in an uncompromising quality. Adapted for residential, hospitality, and retail projects (usage class 34 and fire rating Cfl-S1)

Smoke

Élément core-smoked finish reveals all-natural brown colors throughout the total depth of the oak. A 2 component invisible varnish seals the surface and contributes to the high resistance. A highly crafted surface in an uncompromising quality. Adapted for residential, hospitality, and retail projects (usage class 34 and fire rating Cfl-S1)

Black

Élément black finish celebrates the Japanese burning technique “shou-sugi-ban” revealing a deeply textured black. A 2 component invisible varnish seals the hardened surface and contributes to the high resistance. A highly crafted surface in an uncompromising quality. Adapted for residential, hospitality, and retail projects (usage class 34 and fire rating Cfl-S1)

The facts

Cut: Endgrain oak
Construction: 12 mm birch plywood, 6 mm oak top layer
Finishes: Natural, Smoke, Black. Smoke is smoked through the full depth of the oak; Black is charred, in the shou sugi ban tradition. No stain.
Application: Usage class 34, very heavy commercial traffic
Fire rating: Cfl-s1
