Les Ateliers Courbet is a New York gallery devoted to the hand: makers from around the world, shown as artists. Beneath their work lies Forêt in the smoke finish, drawn by Raphael Navot, endgrain oak laid so the grain reads like a drawing under the objects on display. In a gallery where every piece asks to be looked at closely, the floor asks the same. Tresse, from the Atelier collection, was laid here as well: a second pattern for a gallery that collects them.
